The Menopause Symptoms We Don't Talk About: Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause
The Menopause Symptoms We Don’t Talk About 🌸
Menopause is about so much more than hot flushes.
Vaginal dryness, irritation, painful sex, bladder leakage, urinary urgency, recurrent UTIs and even changes or “shrinkage” of the vulval and vaginal tissues can all occur as oestrogen levels decline.
Collectively, many of these changes are known as Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM) yet many women have never heard of it.
For October’s Health Topic and Menopause Awareness Month, we’re opening up the conversation about what can happen “down there”, why these changes occur, when to seek medical advice, and the different ways women can be supported through naturopathic care, pelvic-floor physiotherapy and conventional treatment.
Because these symptoms may be common, but that doesn’t mean you simply have to put up with them.
Let’s make the uncomfortable conversations a little more comfortable. 🌸

Life After Hysterectomy: Hormones, Menopause, Gut, Vaginal & Pelvic Health
For some women, a hysterectomy brings enormous relief after years of heavy bleeding, fibroids, adenomyosis or pelvic pain. For others, women's health concerns can continue or change over time.
Even without a uterus, hormones, menopause, gut health, the vaginal microbiome, pelvic floor, bladder health and nervous system can all remain important parts of the picture.
In this Health Topic, we explore what can happen after hysterectomy, how to recognise menopause when periods are no longer a guide, and how naturopathic care can support women's health and healthy ageing through the years that follow.
